About OptiDrive

Christian Du-Bar started the journey with OptiDrive early in 2022. The initial goal was as freelance consultant work with electric drive system optimization on a technical level that would not be possible within most companies over time. In many companies, this expertise is critical and have a major impact during the few years a transition take place. For others, this expertise is vital for developing highly competitive products from the get go. However, when building and maintaining high competence and algorithms over time, it is neither practical or feasible to start from scratch every second or third year.

From a practical point of view, working with optimization of electric machines and drive systems in a modern way is very similar to software development. It is very time critical and needs to be scalable, faster algorithms and implementations means more calculations can be done and based on those, more accurate decisions can be made. You simply acquire more knowledge within a given time frame. Despite the great variety and the fact that all projects are unique, there are several frameworks that are the same or at least very similar which can be utilized among several projects with minor adaptions and be developed over time. Fast, stable and distributed parallel computing, handling of large datasets etc.

Christian Du-Bar holds about 10 years of academic research background within electric drive systems. Manufacturability and performance of different winding technologies. Design of fault-tolerant machines. Optimization considering multiple cost-scenarios of raw materials. 3D-FEA of axial flux machines etc. He has about 5 years of industrial experience working with cutting edge companies within the Automotive and Marine Industry.

OptiDrive can serve as your technical advisor and/or become your R&D partner supporting from idea to industrialization.
